AMC Consultants is proud to bring together caving experts from its offices in Adelaide, Melbourne, and Perth at the Fifth International Conference on Block and Sublevel Caving, 30 August - 1 September in Adelaide. Led by Johann van Wijk, General Manager of AMC's office in Adelaide, the team looks forward to welcoming delegates to booth #11.
Our caving team includes experienced mining engineers, geologists, geotechnical engineers, modellers and consultants. We have completed more than 500 projects for caving operations across the globe. We know what - and who - will deliver smart and successful sub-level and block caving operations and outcomes.
Hosted by the
Australian Centre for Geomechanics (ACG), the conference is the only dedicated cave mining international event globally. It will provide a platform for mining companies to be kept informed of the latest technological developments and caving research carried out by industry and academia.
General Manager, Adelaide /
Principal Geotechnical Engineer
Johann is a Mining Engineer specializing in mining rock mechanics. He has more than 30 years of experience in the mining industry, including a balance of operational and consulting experience. Johann has worked in operations, developing, and implementing geotechnical risk management strategies and providing advice to senior leadership on rock engineering matters. Although much of his experience is in underground coal mining, he has experience in surface mining (coal and other commodities) and underground hard rock mining. Johann has been working in consulting for the past eleven years and has been involved in a wide variety of assignments, including technical analyses and due diligence.
Principal Geotechnical Engineer/ Global Practice Leader Geotechnical Engineering
Mike's primary expertise is in rock mechanics (underground operations) including ground support design, rock mass characterization, mining method selection and optimization, extraction sequencing and applied numerical modelling. Mike also has extensive experience in underground mine planning and feasibility studies, mine geology, dewatering, diamond drilling strategies and management of mining technical research.
AMC is pleased to offer the first ever livestream on the topic of caving with globally recognized expert, Mike Sandy. The livestream will feature the General Manager of our office in Adelaide, Johann van Wijk, and will be held by Mark Chesher, Executive Lead - Business Development and will give viewers the opportunity to ask live questions.
When? Wednesday 31 August 1.10 PM
Where? Directly from our booth #11 and across all our Social Media channels LinkedIn, YouTube, Twitter, and Facebook.
Senior Geotechnical Engineer
With more than ten years of in mining, Liam is an experienced underground hard rock geotechnical engineer. His experience extends across several operations and mining methods, including sub-level caving, block caving development, sub-level stoping, and remnant mining. He has extensive experience with deep, high stress mining conditions, seismicity, mass excavation, and ground support design with a strong focus on technical review, risk management, and leading teams. His computer program skills include the use of Map3D, Surpac, Deswik, mXrap, IMS software, Groundprobe SSR-viewer, and Rocscience software.
Principal Consultant / Geology Manager
Andrew has 30 years of accumulated mineral industry experience. He has worked in both underground and open pit metalliferous mines. He has skills in geotechnical assessment, ground support design, modelling and data presentation and review. He also provides advice and training on geotechnical and geological data collection, and mentoring for site-based geotechnical engineers, including a secondment as principal geotechnical engineer in an Indonesian underground operation. Andrew’s experience also includes review of geotechnical processes and ground control management plans, auditing, and due diligence. He has significant operational experience in Australia and overseas, and has worked in gold, base metals, porphyry copper, IOGC, coal, and graphite deposits.
Principal Mining Engineer, Underground
Mark is a mining engineer with more than 24 years experience. His experience at AMC includes work on numerous open-pit and underground projects, both in Australia and internationally. These have included stope design, evaluation, and production scheduling for BHP's Olympic Dam Operations; detailed
underground mine design and production scheduling for MIM's Enterprise mine; mine design, life-ofmine review, and production scheduling for the Zinifex (MMG) Century Mine; underground mine design and production scheduling for the Porgera Gold Mine in Papua New Guinea; underground mine design and production scheduling for the Stawell Gold Mine; and pit optimization, design, and long-term planning for HZL's Rampura Agucha mine in India and MMG’s Sepon mine in Laos.
